This layout is an event-based, single layout for the month of July. Sometimes it happens: the month goes by and you only picked up your camera one time. Go with the flow!
For this layout I used photos from our trip to Memphis, TN, to see Graceland! This has always been on my bucket list, in some ways, and we had a great visit.
I made use of the August 2017 Studio Calico Documenter kit appropriately named Let’s Go. I chose to bring out the blues and greens in this kit and have repeated those colors on both sides of the layout. There are also pops of orange and red.
I reached for the July word from the July kit and added that to the filler card along with a stamped sentiment and a puffy emoji sticker. While the emoji stickers aren’t really my style, they were kind of cute to use and they add another round element to the layout.
I really wanted to use the transparent circles included in the Documenter kit, so I made an effort to find ways to use them. The orange GO circle is layered very simply over one of the 3×4 cards.
I also really liked the die cut tabs in the kit, so this yellow one is folded over the top of the photo and stapled in place. Such a simple way to embellish your photo! This little porch is on the back of the house (or the side maybe?) and I just found it so charming. Imagine Elvis having his orange juice out here in the mornings?!
Graceland is pretty private off the main road, so it was challenging to get a full photo of the front, but I do love how this photo shows the grand columns and the beautiful pediments over the doorway. It was just about 110 degrees that day, and so very humid!
We were given the nifty little headphones so we could hear all the details of the tour. Did I mention it was so very hot? But I love the little punched words from one of the 3×4 cards, it fit perfectly here.
On the right hand side I included this title card. This card repeats the blue on the layout, and I used the alphabet stickers to add my simple title. A chipboard sticker adds just a little something and that is all it needs!
I loved the initials that are on the wall, I think these were in the part that houses all the memorabilia, records, and a lifetime of entertainment. I also used the back of one of the die cut tabs to stamp travel notes on the side.
This was a most beautiful piano in the living areas of the home. Everything at Graceland has been left as it was, and it is such a time capsule! But it definitely offered a treasured glimpse of Elvis and his life, and I am so happy we went. Please note: we were allowed to photograph only if flash was left off. Of course we heeded that request, and that is why some photos are a bit dark. And that is ok.
