IMP Design Team Maribeth Lysen | Past/Present/Future

Hi friends! 2022 has been a year that is forcing me to embrace change in a big way. Having just moved across the country, and living in temporary housing, without my curated scrappy supplies or most of our “stuff” has been hard. But I still want to document life right now, our present. I’m curious how I’ll look back on this moment in time years down the road. I know future me will be interested in how current me felt and what my thoughts were about the transition. Even knowing that, keeping up with jotting down notes everyday has been a struggle. I’m settling for doing what I can, when I can, and calling that good enough. I know I will be happy I documented anything at all, and that’s what counts.

I’ve set myself up with a handful of physical supplies, mostly from my current Coco Daisy subscription and a few tools. Having limited supplies has really brought me back to my scrapbooking roots. When I didn’t have a fancy cutting machine or loads of stickers and ephemera to choose from. It’s putting the “crafty” back in my scrapbooking which feels good. It’s been a good reminder you truly don’t need a lot of supplies or tools to memory keep.

One thing different from when I started, is my love for digital supplies. Hybrid scrapbooking has opened up a whole new world to me a few years ago, and I’m grateful now I have such amazing digital options in my limited space. Some of my favorites to fussy cut have been the adorable hearts from Neffy Crafts Co.

For my opening January spread I fussy cut three different labels from the IMP Collab Life Stories Kit where I added bits of journaling in Photoshop CC. Underneath each label, I added a hexagon stickers from Coco Daisy. Those three pieces created my clusters and I used the clusters to tie the pages together and draw your eye around the page.

I’ve spent a good part of January thinking about how I want to document this coming year, what I want the future to look like for my memory keeping practice. I’m very happy to have settled on doing 9×12 for my pocket pages. I’ll also be working to complete a digital wedding album for my parents and mother-in-law and finishing my December Daily from 2020 and 2021. Next on my wish list is to incorporate some art journaling pages in my albums. That could be making pages and then turning them into 3×4 and 4×6 cards or simply using them as background papers. That’s the magic of January, so many possibilities!

It’s great to have a plan to work from and I’m excited to memory keep in 2022. If you are looking for additional inspiration, be sure to visit us in the IMP Facebook group and join the IMP class! I hope to see you there.
